Chapter 39: Pip is now 23, During a thunderstorm he hears heavy footsteps Pip then finds out its the convict who is in his apartment, Pip learns about his convict and what happen to him he went to Australia where he worked as a sheep rancher and he made a lot of money from this with the money he made he wanted to turn Pip into a gentleman. Pip finds out his secret benefactor is the convict. The convict is on the run from the law and Pip wants to help his convict he give him Herbert’s to sleep in for tonight, Pip sees the convict sleeping with a pistol and locks his door.
Chapter 40: Pip in the morning trips over someone who is on the stair case he runs to get the watchman but when they return the man is gone. Pip’s convict is called Magwitch, Pip then calls on Jaggers to help him disguise Magwitch and confirm his story
